Recipe 2 of 100
This dinner started as a “let’s throw everything on the grill and see what happens” kind of night.
I marinated flank steak in a quick soy sauce mixture, skewered shrimp with honey and lemon, and added a few vegetables we already had in the fridge.
The result was one of those dinners where everyone keeps wandering back to the counter for “just one more piece.”
Simple, fast, and perfect for warm evenings.

How I Served It
I put everything on the counter family-style:
sliced flank steak
shrimp and cherry tomato skewers
grilled corn
grilled potatoes
grilled broccoli
chimichurri for the steak (recipe below)
simple garlic aioli for dipping (recipe below)
Everyone built their own plate.
Chimichurri
Ingredients
1 cup fresh parsley, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
2 tbsp red wine vinegar
½ cup olive oil
½ tsp salt
½ tsp red pepper flakes
½ tsp dried oregano
squeeze of lemon (optional)
Instructions
Finely chop the parsley and garlic.
Add vinegar, salt, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
Stir in olive oil until well combined.
Let sit 10–15 minutes before serving.
Spoon generously over the sliced flank steak.
Simple Aioli (for shrimp & vegetables)
Ingredients
½ cup mayonnaise
1 small garlic clove, grated
Juice of 1/2 - 1 lemon
pinch salt
Instructions
Whisk everything together and refrigerate until ready to serve.
My Notes
The steak marinade is incredibly simple but works every time. Aioli is easier to make than I thought.
The shrimp with honey and lemon balanced the savory steak perfectly.
Next time I might add:
grilled bread
a simple salad
Family Verdict
✔ Steak with chimichurri was the favorite
✔ Shrimp skewers disappeared quickly
✔ Definitely a repeat dinner
